Yacht Hunter Lazzara LSX Review

Yacht Hunter Lazzara LSX Review.

If you’re reading the Yacht Hunter Lazzara LSX review, I have one word of advice for you; DON’T! They are appealing for the sense that they might be the sleekest American built yachts ever made, but for the following reasons, I tell my clients to stay clear.

  1. The Only Thing Worse Than Maintenance on 2 Engines is 4 Engines. Lazzara yachts was one of the first to adopt pod drives into their builds which is great. What’s less than stellar is these are one of the only yachts to have four inboard engines opposed to the usual two. Four underpowered engines don’t take the place of two. In a copy cat industry, no other builders asides from Delta Carbon has adopted the four engine technology for good reason. To further demonstrate that this was the wrong move, 4 different Lazzara LSX’s have been repowered inside of 10 years.
  2. Charter Abuse – Given their sleek design, modern furnishings and expansive galley layouts, LSX’s have been desirable charter boats especially in Miami Beach.
  3. Market Manipulation – This shouldn’t come as a surpise but the Lazzara brothers since the shipyard ceased production of these yachts have maintained the listings for these vessels. With that said, they have controlled who buys and sells these vessels which has kept prices higher than they typically would be.
  4. Big Buyer’s Market – There are currently four Lazzara LSX 75’s on the market. Two of them have been for sale for over a year and a half. What does that mean? Well it means that there should be a footrace between the brokers and owners to get theirs sold first. Unfortunately, yacht sales is a wildly inefficient process so knowing how to
  5. Discontinued – Since Lazzara yachts has ceased production, Lazarra’s have taken longer to sell and have sold at a larger discount. Without buyers of new models creating secondary demand, this is natural for any builder who goes out of business.

Whether you’re looking at a Lazzara LSX 75 or 92, your best bet is shifting your search towards Pershing yachts. Enjoyed the Yacht Hunter Lazzara LSX review?

Fort Lauderdale Boat Show

Fort Lauderdale Boat Show Hotels

Lauderdale Boat Show Hotels

Everyone asks which Fort Lauderdale Boat Show hotels are best, and the answer is fairly simple because the hotel you want to be at is one of the few within a short walk or shuttle.

Any hotel located on route A1A or Fort Lauderdale Beach is ideal: The W Fort Lauderdale Beach, The Westin, The Ritz Carlton Fort Lauderdale Beach, The Conrad, The Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach.

Bahia Mar is an absolute dump although you can’t get any closer to the show.  Pier 66 Resort & Marina is under construction and is also a bit isolated from the main portion of the boat show.

The Marriott is the site of a once good location at “Beach Place” but now is the site of failed retail concepts, poor dining options and a less than stellar social scene.

Rates certainly spike during the show; you have high profile yacht purchasers from around the globe in addition to the builders, salesforce and ancillary companies that support them staying in one concentrated area.

An alternative would be to stay in either Miami or West Palm Beach to arrive by train. The train, being Brightline, will add 30 minutes to your ride, but may save you on hotel premium costs.

The traffic at the Boat Show is atrocious so be prepared to take the provided bus shuttles to a distant parking lot if you drive, Ubers at a crawling pace, and the water taxi can get a bit busy as well. New to the city are scooters and electric karts.

If you’re making a day or night out of the show with your wife, girlfiend or kids, downtown Las Olas will provide all of your dining, shopping and small city feels that I would hope to get out of a new city.

Never Pay More Than The Last Buyer

The best piece of advice I can give you is this: ignore the list price of the Pershing you’re looking at. There’s only one number that matters when you’re buying a Pershing and that is the recent sales price.

The recent sale price is what the last buyer paid for their boat. In a perfectly rational world, this establishes the ceiling or top number you will pay, therefore providing you with critical leverage in your negotiation. This information is recorded in a yacht sales database and made available to yacht salesman only.

Example:

The last 2009 Pershing 72 sold for $1,600,000 in 2015 but there’s one currently listed for sale at $1,695,000.

Now, a yacht salesman doesn’t want you to know this information because they want you to overpay for your yacht. So not only will the salesman omit or exaggerate this information, but it’s common practice to list a boat well above this number to create a sense of perceived value for buyers, when in reality it’s a trick to have them overspend.

Luckily for you, you know this information exists and you won’t consider buying a Pershing until you get it. I’ve made it available by filling out the following form (FORM).

In addition to the recent sales price, I highly suggest and recommend obtaining relevant factors such as how long Pershing 64 or Pershing 72 typically spends on the market, how much they typically sell below their list price and a number of other analytics (featured in this video here – What Pershing Buyers Need To Know)

It’s important to mention as well that the hull color and upholstery can impact sales price; the louder more uncommon colors make for a tougher sale to a larger buying pool; never allow a salesman to tell you how rare and desirable it is; in truth it’ scarce and unappealing.

Biggest Pershing Yacht Buying Mistakes

If you’re looking for someone to convince you not to buy a Pershing, I’m not that guy, however, I am the guy who’s going to tell you everything you NEED to know so you don’t overpay for your Pershing.

When considering buying a used Pershing yacht for sale in Miami or anywhere else for that matter, the MOST IMPORTANT thing you need to know is not the list price, but the recent sales price, or what actual Pershing buyers have paid for their yachts. Salesman don’t want you to know this information because they’re hoping that you’ll overpay as they’ll earn a higher commission while subsequently, yielding their seller a higher return.

To demonstrate this example, it’s best to consider the following example:

A 2013 64 Pershing is currently listed for $1,500,000 yet the most recently sold 2013 64 Pershing sold for $1,300,000 earlier this year, which drops the new ceiling for what any savvy buyer should expect to pay. (Be sure to get this relevant info to your purchase using the calculator – Click Here).

Two very important data and analytically driven points you do need to know are:

  • 7 Months Represents The Median Amount of Time a Pershing Takes To Sell On The Open Market
  • 12.43% Represents The Median Amount a Pershing yacht sells below its Asking Price.

Pershing Yachts Review

Some yacht buyers discount Pershing Yachts because they’re intimidated by the prospect of surface drives yet it’s my philosophy that this is a tactic started by captains or salesman that are unfamiliar with surface drives. Surface drives allow Pershing owners to obtain faster speeds, better fuel efficiency which only further benefit the sexy, daredevil design of these fine Italian yachts. Pershings yachts for sale in Miami

About one third of Pershing listings are controlled by the broker/dealer facilitating sales of new Pershing models, which means prices have been kept artificially high, to encourage current owners to trade in/out of new models or into similar vessels within the Ferretti Group family: Riva, Ferretti, Baia, etc.

While there are a number of great Pershing options on the market, I would check out the following.

Why Knot – 2017 Pershing 82 VHP Fort Lauderdale Florida
Our Trade – 2016 Pershing 74 Fort Lauderdale Florida
Ice Man – 2018 Peshing 5x Boca Raton
***BUYER’s Opportunity: Pershing 64’s represent the strongest buying opportunity for interested Pershing buyers as 75% of Pershing 64 listings have been listed for sale over 1 year. The Yacht Hunter’s philosophy is that an inefficient market has been created by Allied Marine/ The Ferretti Group to force trades by owners into Riva/Ferretti/Baia options.

I also would consider alternatives outside the Pershing family depending on your budget, size, needs and timeline.

If you’re considering purchasing a VanDutch 40 or VanDutch 55, this post is designed for you to save a sh**load of money.

The best piece of advice I can give you is this: ignore the list price of the VanDutch you’re looking at. There’s only one number that matters when you’re buying a VanDutch and that is the recent sales price.

The recent sale price is what the last buyer paid for their boat. This establishes the ceiling or top number you will pay to provide leverage to your negotiation. This information is recorded in a yacht sales database and made available to yacht salesman only.

Examples:

The last 2016 VanDutch 40 sold for $460k but there’s one currently listed for sale at $550k.

The last 2015 VanDutch 55 sold for $825,000 but there’s one currently listed for sale above $950,000.

Luckily for you, you know this information exists and you won’t consider buying a VanDutch until you get it. I’ve made it available by filling out the following form (FORM).

In addition to the recent sales price, I highly suggest and recommend obtaining relevant factors such as how long VanDutch 40 or VanDutch 55 typically spends on the market, how much they typically sell below their list price and a number of other analytics (featured in this video here – What VanDutch buyers need to know)

It’s important to mention as well that the hull color and upholstery can impact sales price; the louder more uncommon colors make for a tougher sale to a larger buying pool; never allow a salesman to tell you how rare and desirable it is; in truth it’ scarce and unappealing.

Azimut Yachts Yachts

Azimut Yachts – Price & Review

Azimut Yachts Review

My best advice for someone researching Azimut Yachts – Price & Review is the following: DON’T BUY AN AZIMUT!

Let me back this up with a story of my early career. There’s this running joke between brokers, crew and owners that you hope a buyer comes to you and wants to buy an Azimut. You hope for this because they’ll be calling you within a year later to sell it, which means double commission.

I see that as an awful business model which is why I’m writing this article and started my company to protect yacht buyers from making such mistakes.

But the Azimut joke exists they sell a lot of boats and they consistently overlook quality control. Most of the time, an Azimut buyer is a first time yacht purchaser who obliviously overspends on the way in and has trouble selling on their way out.

As someone who watches and analyzes the market closely, the stats tell a fairly ugly story. As a big fan of italian built vessels, I would certainly allocate my money elswhere.

Therefore, if you’re considering one of the following, I recommend you re-evaluate your options.

Fly – Instead of an Azimut Flybridge, consider a Ferretti, Monte Carlo, or Sunseeker. While I do believe Sunseeker is following the same path of mistakes Azimut has made, they still create a superior product.

Azimut Fly

S – The sporty Azimut S dwarfs a Sunseekeer Predator, Princess V, or a Pershing.

Azimut 86s

Magellano – As far as renowned trawlers go, Azimut doesn’t even make the list. Look towards a Beneteau Swift Trawler but the modern luxury trawler market isn’t quite where it needs to be yet.

Azimut Yachts Pricing

So as we segway into the pricing aspect of Azimut Yachts – Price & Review

Yacht sales are recorded in a database or a yachting MLS so in an efficient world, a smart buyer never pays more than what the last buyer paid for an Azimut of the same make and year. While a smart salesman would price his yacht for sale exactly at this figure, often times salesman will inflate the price up to 30% above this figure which creates a perceived value to a buyer working without a buyer’s broker. Once one is listed so much higher, forth coming listings are also listed at premiums creating an artificial bubble.

Example: A 2011 116 Azimut sold for $5,750,000 in 2016 yet a 2011 116 Azimut is currently listed today (07/14/2019) at $5,999,999. While customizations, condition and upgrades always play a part in valuation, a yacht is never an appreciating asset.

I get clients that say “I just want a good deal” but I know better to say we make our own good deal. If you’re still reading this, I hope you are educated and informed. I encourage you to find out the recent sales figures for any yacht you’re interested in buying and have made it available via the following form.
