HONEST NORDHAVN YACHTS REVIEWS

If you’re in the market for a Nordhavn, it’s safe for me to assume that you aspire to sail far, sail safe, and sail slow. It’s also safe for me to assume that you don’t want to overpay for your Nordhavn, which unfortunately happens all the time.

Nordhavn Alternatives

It’s not uncommon for Nordhavn owners to move between models within the Nordhavn brand but many transition to Marlow yachts and Outer Reef yachts as they also provide long range cruising ability and efficiency with some more onboard luxuries and amenities.

Nordhavn Criticism

I am critical of Nordhavn for two reasons and two reasons only.

  1. They are slow - They’re built for long range cruising, their systems are redundant, their bullet proof, I understand, but they are slow. When 7 knots is top speed, that’s very slow; if you ever really want to move fast, a Nordhavn is not capable of doing so.

  2. Market Manipulation - Most builders focus on building their boats whereas Pacific Asisan Enterprises both builds and maintains the sales of the secondary market. The reason why I’m not a fan of this is that they have heavier incentive to sell new builds, create stubborn or unrealistic sellers, and deter other brokers from working with them. The leading secondary sales firms are almost all former employees of the company that ventured out on their own after seeing the inefficiency and abuse created by this system.
